BROOKS STEVENS DESIGN TRANSFORMS HOME APPLIANCE CATEGORY WITH NEW "ADVANCED DESIGN" FOODSAVER PRODUCT LINE

New FoodSaver product line, designed by Brooks Stevens Design, brings sleek sophistication and unmatched functionality to home vacuum packaging appliances.

Grafton, WI (March 23, 2005) - For more than 15 years, FoodSaver products have provided consumers with the gold standard in vacuum packaging.  Now, this unrivaled performance comes wrapped in an inspired design that will truly take the category to a new level. The new V2400 and V2800 series appliances have been introduced at the 2005 International Housewares Show in Chicago.

In developing the new product line, Tilia retainedBrooks Stevens Design for comprehensive product development support including design trend research, ergonomic and industrial design, mechanical engineering, and prototyping.

What sets the new product line apart:  Style and ease of use.  From a functional standpoint, the Advanced Design line offers a myriad of new features designed to improve control, make cleaning easier, and simplify operation. Additionally, its groundbreaking styling truly sets it apart.

Breakthrough features include CrushFree™ Instant Seal and Pulse that allows foolproof vacuum packaging of delicate items. Additionally, food specific settings and an Extra Wide Sealing Strip ensure a better, more secure seal. And finally, an intuitive interface virtually eliminates the need for instructions, so product use is simpler than ever.

The top-of-the-line V2800 series also includes an unprecedented, space-saving flip-up design that frees up valuable counter space.  This appliance is a standard size when in use, but reduces to about 1/3 the footprint when not in use.  And the first real stainless steel finish in the category tops this offering off with an exclusive high-end look.

"Our vision for this new line hinged on sleek lines and ease of use, while maintaining our superior performance, so we enlisted the best in the industry to help us meet our challenge," said Linda Graebner, President and CEO of Tilia, Inc. the manufacturer of FoodSaver products.  While breakthroughs in functionality are noteworthy and separate the new FoodSaver product line from every other product in the category, the most talked about change might be the dramatic styling of the V2800 series.  "Traditionally, vacuum packaging appliances have had a pretty basic visual design," Graebner said.  "With the new V2800 Advanced Design series, we've shattered that perspective.  The flip-up, stainless steel design is an eye-catching addition to even the most sophisticated countertop and the flip feature saves counter space in a way that sets a standard for other categories. People are going to want this appliance."
