BSI Presents to Student Entrepreneurs

Guest Lecture at University of Wisconsin - Whitewater

December 02, 2009
WHITEWATER, WI – Douglas Carpiaux, Industrial Design Manager and George Konstantakis, Principal of our Allenton office, recently spoke to a student entrepreneurial group at UW-Whitewater.  The Collegiate Entrepreneur’s Organization (UW-W CEO) was formed as part of efforts to create an entrepreneurship program at UW-Whitewater, and it offers opportunities for entrepreneurial projects, personal development, and entrepreneur skill enhancement for students beyond the school of business itself.

"Creating Innovative, Not Imitative Business Ideas" was the theme, and the discussion was kicked off with an overview of BSI’s typical roles and responsibilities in new product development.  What followed was a detailed outline of our unique IDEAtion approach to brainstorming, which focuses not only upon creativity, but laying effective groundwork for highly relevant solutions and holistic problem solving.  Exciting ideas are only valuable if they truly solve the problems at hand.

This presentation was an essential part of UW-W CEO’s plans to jumpstart their upcoming business plan competition as well as the "Interdepartmental Entrepreneurship Independent Study Program" for the spring semester.  Encouraging creative thought outside of the bounds of “design” is something BSI takes very seriously.  Our appreciation is extended to Debra Malewicki, Ph.D. of the Management Department, and Chris Nwakalo, Director of Programming UWW-CEO for this opportunity to inspire future business innovators.
