Drawing from our considerable experience in the development of medical imaging systems, Brooks Stevens, Inc. assisted Boston, MA based Analogic Corporation in the successful development of a new security baggage scanner.
The new COBRA (Carry-On Baggage Real-time Assessment), an explosive and weapons detection systems high-level computed tomography (CT) technology, allows security personnel to acquire three dimensional images of the scanned luggage and to determine the density of the contents. Traditional x-ray technology only produces 2 dimensional images and cannot determine the density of the scanned materials.
BSi’s involvement in the project resulted in the development of a security system that provides operators and passengers with functional and ergonomic features that are not offered by current competitive systems and a design that visually reflects the technological sophistication of the system.
